Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Stoopwise LLC (“Stoopwise,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information when you use stoopwise.com and related services (the “Service”). Short version: the Service has no accounts, no advertising, and no cookies; it never asks for your device location; and the only personal information we hold is what you choose to type into one of our forms or send us by email.

1. Information we collect

Information you provide. We collect information that you choose to provide, such as information you send by email or submit through one of our forms — the weekly-email signup, the feedback and correction form, and the event-submission form for businesses and organizations. Depending on the form, this may include your name or business name, email address, and the message you write. These forms are hosted by Tally, which processes the responses on our behalf.

Information collected automatically. When you use the Service, our hosting infrastructure and analytics tools process technical information such as IP address, browser and device type, operating system, referring page, pages viewed, approximate location derived from IP address, and timestamps. Analytics are configured deliberately narrowly: named taps and pageviews, no autocapture, no session recording, and no advertising or marketing pixels of any kind. We also capture technical error reports (crashes) so we can fix them.

Map information. The map is rendered from vector tiles served by OpenFreeMap, which receives technical information such as your IP address when map tiles and fonts load. The Service never requests your precise browser or device location — there is no “use my location” feature, and no location permission prompt.

2. How we use information

We may use information to:

provide, maintain, secure, and improve the Service;
understand how the Service is used;
respond to questions, correction requests, and business inquiries;
send communications you requested and administer opt-outs;
detect fraud, abuse, security incidents, or technical problems;
comply with law and protect our rights or the rights of others; and
support business operations such as accounting, analytics, and service-provider management.

3. How we share information

We share information with the service providers that process data for us — the hosting, analytics, map, form, and email providers listed above, plus professional-service providers such as accountants or counsel. We may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to legal process, protect safety or rights, investigate abuse, or complete a financing, merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets.

Stoopwise does not sell personal information, and does not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. If our business model or advertising practices change in a way that triggers additional privacy obligations or opt-out rights, we will update this Policy and provide the required choices.

4. Cookies and similar technologies

The Service sets no cookies. It does use your browser’s local storage for two things: an anonymous analytics identifier, so a returning reader isn’t counted as a new one, and small preferences such as whether you have seen the first-visit introduction. Clearing your browser’s site data clears both. Browser settings can also block local storage, though doing so may affect functionality.

5. Data retention

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, including providing the Service, responding to requests, maintaining appropriate business records, resolving disputes, enforcing agreements, and meeting legal obligations. Retention periods vary by type of information and service provider.

6. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information. No internet service or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

7. Your choices

You may unsubscribe from the weekly email using the unsubscribe link in any message. You may also contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information you have provided to us. We will respond as required by applicable law and may need to verify your request. Email hello@stoopwise.com.

Depending on where you live and how the Service evolves, you may have additional privacy rights. We will honor legally required rights that apply to Stoopwise.

8. Children

The Service is a general-audience neighborhood information service and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly seek to collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us so we can review and, where appropriate, delete it.

9. Third-party sites and services

The Service links to third-party websites and services — the businesses, venues, organizers, and publishers behind the listings. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, not this Policy.

10. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy as the Service and our practices change. We will post the current version and update the effective date.
